Meloot Panicker culture is bit different from others. Both men and women in the family are trained to do Kalari since their childhood and this makes them independent and self-sufficent. They consider, treat and devote women in thier family as goddesses. Because of this, a girl child born in Meloot family can never change her family name / status / surname even after her marraige. It is also important for the Meloot - women to represent their family name during all considerable events in their life. Whereas, the men in the family and in-laws (men) can either gain the Meloot status or not, it's up to them. But women from other families can never attain the Status of Meloot Panicker and hence their children. So, the only women holding Meloot status in the family are the descendants of Meloot kshathriya women. Even if a woman from this Family is married to other panickers { Nairs ( Shudra community) Ezhavas (Buddhists or Jains) and Syrian Christians) } present days ( were strictly not allowed before) she still remains as a Meloot Varma for the rest of her life and will pass the status to her girl child.
